About the project
A new chapter for a Victorian pub on Pimlico Road. The interior brings together the intimacy of an English pub and the warmth and expressiveness of Spanish culture.
Deep burgundy forms the basis of the palette. Combined with reclaimed barn wood, handmade tiles and copper, it creates a rich, enveloping space. Soft light picks out the textures and gathers small islands of comfort around the tables — for a brief meeting at the bar or a long dinner.
The ceilings play a particular role: patterned wallpaper in the lower room and a suspended installation upstairs add depth to the interior. Marine motifs on a ceramic panel and sculptural fish in the stairwell tie the design to the gastronomic character of the venue, listed in the Michelin Guide.
At the heart of the project is an idea of hospitality understood by both cultures. Beer at the bar, dishes from the open fire, Mediterranean flavours and conversation at a shared table come together in the atmosphere of a lively place people want to return to.
